![]() French tapestries are a most unique and evocative way to decorate a room or home. There are firstly the works of the Francois Boucher who became the First Painter to the King or Premier Peintre du Roi under Louis in 1765. His works are filled with romanticism and focused on the life of nobles, yet often anchored in showing their every daily activities. Then you have the Gobelins Tapestries from the Gobelins Manufacture, the largest and most revered producer of tapestries in France in the 17th century. Under the supervision of Charles Le Brun who was the First Painter to the King for Louix XIV, just before the time of Boucher, the Gobelins produced works which established them as master tapestry makers. Then there are the works of the Manufacturer de Beauvais, which was the other major center of tapestry production in France. The works from Beauvais includes some of the most stunning designs of nature, cityscapes and harbors. They show masterly design and color, as well as idyllic romanticism.
