In Night and Day tapestry we see a symmetrical and geometrical work which symbolises and celebrates the night and day times.
Here we see a central golden motif representing the sun in glorious golds and reds, and the outer section filled with violet and blue motifs representing the night time.
An outer golden border completes the work.

This is a work by Van Gogh from the year 1889 created while he was in Saint-Remy in France. He wrote of this work to his brother Theo ” I have a canvas of cypresses with some ears of wheat, some poppies, a blue sky like a piece of Scotch plaid; the former painted with a thick impasto…”
Impasto is an artistic technique where paint is laid thickly where brush or painting knife strokes are still visible, used in oil or acrylic paint.
Here we see the wild elements of the scene from the wheatfield, to the trees to the clouds.
You can almost feel the wind blowing strongly from the impression made by his technique.

This is a work of art from John William Waterhouse (1849-1917), an English painter who produced art inspired by poetry and literature.
Here we see the depiction of a poem by Alfred Lloyd Tennyson about a lady who is smelling the roses in her garden, and is experiencing a “heavenly paradise”.
The details of the lady including her peacock inspired garment is beautiful.
This is a work in Pre-Raphaelite style which transforms a viewer into the world that the artist has depicted.

This is a work by artist Lucelle Raad who specialises in art of children.
Here we see children enjoying the summer days on a beachside, with beautiful bold colors.
There is a cute little puppy as well enjoy the day out on the fine summer weather.
The works of Raad show her love of color and joy, and by painting children celebrates the innocence and lightness of childhood.
