This tapestry is woven after a fresco from Simone Martini in the Palazzo Publico in Siena, representing Captain Guido Riccio da Fogliano after his victory, riding past the castles of Montemassi and Sassoforte. The fresco originates from around 1330. This medieval work shows the rustic style of art of the time, and in this case a historical representation of an event, as well as being a work of art in itself showing the dress and attire of Riccio and his horse, as they parade after his victory in battle. This medieval tapestry "Condottiere" is backed with lining and a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are not included in the price.
