This beautiful religious tapestry "Flight into Egypt" shows the iconic journey to Egypt, based on the work of Giotti di Bondone from 1304-06. The original of this work is in the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua. Here we see a sumptuous work which tells of the flight to Egypt by Joseph, Mary and Jesus after a visit by an angel, who told them of King Herod's intention to kill male infants in the search for the "King of the Jews". An angel appears to Joseph to tell them to flee and is seen here in pink robes flying above the scene leading their way. The work is beautiful and is typical of the detail and delicate touch which Giotti had for his works including the many telling of religious and biblical events. The landscape is iconic of Giotti's works and even the textures of the rocks are beautiful to enjoy. This religious tapestry "Flight into Egypt" is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are purchased separately.
