Fox hunt

The sport of fox hunting doesn’t seem like the sport of kings so much these days. But in the 18th century when this scene was painted, the excitement of the hunts - with all its drama - was on many people’s minds. In “Fox Hunt”, the painter captures this moment in remarkable detail. The fox is clearly visible on the far right, dashing through the underbrush. The hounds are in hot pursuit, even sending a few ducks into flight as they leap through the stream. In the middle, two hunters in their traditional hunt attire, make their way on horseback. Surprisingly enough, the fox often won the battle of wits, escaping the hunters and their dogs. This piece captures a part of English history beautifully. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
