Known for his peaceful garden scenes and landscapes, Vail Oxley’s work has become increasingly popular in the modern world. When looking at the Beijing artist’s “Garden archway”, one can easily see why. A simple cobbled path that leads to the garden beyond is transformed into an intriguing visual work, which is detailed but is open to interpretation through what is purposely not shown. The control of lighting is superb, as is the depth of the corridor. One can almost imagine walking right through the front of this tapestry and into the corridor. Like most of his work, “Garden archway” is a moment of time, captured for eternity through Oxley’s eyes and brush. This tapestry is lined on the back and comes with a tunnel for easy hanging and display.
