This handwoven tapestry in Aubusson style shows a scene of a bird in a garden with a fountain and abundance of fruit and produce. As a symbol of abundance and plenty, this cornucopia scene reminiscent of the scenes produced by the French tapestry houses of the 17th century, shows the red drape, and much fruit and vegetables. We see pumpkins, melons, peonies and many flowers gathered together in the garden, where a pond is present and a bird is perched on one of the columns. Detail is evident throughout the piece, and the distance hints at distant trees and a town. This handwoven tapestry Bird & Fountain is unlined, and has a rod pocket for easy hanging.
