Jarre de fleurs I

The names of some works of art are so mysterious you can’t be sure what the artist was thinking at the time. This is not the case with “Jarre de fleurs”. The work of noted still life artist, Iphigénie Millet de Moreau, “Jarre de fleurs” is exactly that, a Jar of Flowers. But don’t let the name fool you. Moreau’s 18th century masterpiece is simply awe-inspiring. From the brilliant colors to the precise composition, the flowers and fruit seem to come to life on the marble table. Part of the reason is the artist’s caring use of light and texture, which creates depth in “Jarre de fleurs”. The border on the tapestry echoes the detailing of the still life well. This tapestry is lined and comes with a tunnel for ease of hanging.
