Jarre de fleurs II

Set against a deep black background, this version of Iphigénie Millet de Moreau’s magnificent “Jarre de fleurs” is rich in contrast and beauty. The flowers and vegetables pour forth from the jar and onto the marble table it sits on. The ripe fruits and fresh flowers almost burst from the canvas. Moreau was well known in the 18th century for his still life work, which featured an artistic command of color, composition and light. This is most obvious in “Jarre de fleurs”. The border uses colors from the main body of work that complements Moreau’s piece nicely. This piece with its lavish color and vibrancy, is a testament to the love of still life that Moreau had. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
