This angel tapestry "L'archange" shows an archangel from the Renaissance period by Hans Memling from around 1480. Memling was a German born Renaissance painter from 1430-1494 who created art work in the tradition of Early Netherlandish painting. Here we see the archangel holding an olive branch with a hand on his heart to symbolise peace. Archangels such as Michael, Raphael and Gabriel are a higher order of angels assigned to specific roles or influences. This rendition is a humble and grounded portrayal of these beautiful beings. His works are pure in its execution and have an innocence about them that is unique among Renaissance artists. This religious or angel tapestry "L'archange" is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
