Les poulets

Detailed Image
Les poulets
In ancient Greece, the chicken was revered because of its valor. It has even been said that lions were afraid of chickens and this reference appeared in several of Aesop’s Fables. It is also the symbol of divine light and a guardian against evil in many cultures. “Les poulets” was painted by noted wildlife and animal painter Linda Picken. It shows chickens enjoying a warm summer day in the French countryside. A native of Ohio, Picken works in her studio in Bentonville, Arkansas these days. Her prolific works include 30 paintings that have been selected to be Ducks Unlimited prints. The warmth and beauty of her “Les poulets” is hard to miss, much less imitate. Perhaps that’s why Picken’s work is so collectible. This tapestry is lined along the back and includes a tunnel for hanging.
