Monet's Lily Pond

Monet's Lily Pond
Famed for his Impressionist paintings, “Lily Pond” was painted toward the end of Monet’s life. During this 20-year period, lilies were a favorite subject of the artist, and the “Lily Pond” is one of his best pieces. It shows a traditional Japanese bridge crossing the pond, which is overflowing with lilies. The bridge is surrounded by wisteria, weeping willows, bamboo and nympheas which Monet had planted himself in his garden. Monet’s attention to detail, color and composition are evident in the “Lily Pond”. Nature was one of his passions in life, and he drew inspiration from the world around him. Designed by Monet, his Japanese garden was the subject of many of his finest works, including “Lily Pond”. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
