This delightful tapestry “Pineapple Harvest (Right)” shows a scene from an original tapestry “The harvesting of pineapples” or "La Recolte des Ananas" which was from a set of ten tapestries called “The History of the Chinese Emperor” commissioned by Louis Alexander de Bourbon, son of King Louis the XIV, to the Beauvais manufacture. At the end of the 17th century the Jesuit missionaries returned from China with tales of exoticism and adventure. These tales influenced French art and the topic of exoticism was seen in their grand tapestries. Here we see the villagers harvesting pineapples from the exotic pineapple tree in full bloom under a tall palm tree and cloudy blue skies. This exotic landscape tapestry “Pineapple Harvest (Right)” comes complete with lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: Tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are not included in the price.
