This tapestry "Retour de Chase" shows the hunt or chase by nobility in the lush European forest. This medieval tapestry shows the garments of the hunters, their hounds and the forest foliage in superb detail and originated from the late 16th century. The influence of the Italian renaissance can be seen in this work in the style that this tapestry possesses. This tapestry is a verdure tapestry in its own right in that it is a natural countryside scene where the beauty of nature with the foliage of the forest is placed in high regard, as are the subjects and the castle in the distance. A rich border of fruit, flowers and birds completes this work beautifully. This tapestry is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are sold separately.
