Based on the work of modern artist Don Li-Leger of Vancouver, this Oriental wall hanging is typical of his style of Asian fusion art. In this modern Asian tapestry we see the elements which inspired his work, the spring cherry blossoms, bamboo and blocks of color. It was the "broad areas of rolled on, saturated color" in monoprints, according to his own words, which inspired him toward Asian art. His pieces are bold, abstract and are constructs of the imagination as well as the Asian elements that he is dealing with. Bamboo is a part of Asian flora as well as culture, and so is the blooming cherry blossoms, which because they bloom all at once, and fleetingly, that they are regarded as a symbol of the transient nature of life. The colors of green, beige gold and red are also reflective of three colors considered to represent health, wealth and good fortune in Asian culture. His works are popular in homes that require an Asian theme or decor as well as art galleries. This tapestry is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are purchased separately.
