From the painting of artist Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922), this tapestry shows the scene called the Accolade. Here we see the knight kneeling before the Queen, and is being knighted with the ceremony with the sword. This version of the knighting scene is stylised and shows the central detail from the original work. The works of Leighton focused on the subject matter of medieval life with a romantic emphasis. This Accolade II tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
