The Accolade V tapestry shows the famous knighting scene by Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922). The works of Leighton specialised in medieval subjects including Godspeed, Lady Godiva and The Accolade. Here we see a young man being knighted by the Queen with the ceremonial sword on his right shoulder. The play of light is superb in this piece, as we see the lady's garments being illuminated by the sun through the palace windows behind to create a light on the main subjects, and a darker background where members of the royal court are watching. An elaborate border completes the work. This Accolade V tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, if pictured, are not included in the price.
