Tulipe - beige

Tulipe - beige
It’s hard to believe today, but tulips are a relatively recent creation. The tulip originated only a few centuries ago in Persia and Turkey, where it was worn in one’s turban. It was the Europeans who gave the flower its name, which comes from the Persian word for turban. Once introduced to Europe tulip mania quickly spread throughout the continent. In the 17th century, demand was so high that prices soared to the point where entire economies collapsed. “Tulipe beige” is an elegant and graceful depiction of the tulip. Two tulips are intertwined in the center of the piece against a muted background. A simple border creates focus for the flowers, where you can see the intimate detail in the petals and leaves. “Tulipe beige” is lined along the back and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
