This Vendanges au Chateau French tapestry is based on the Tapestry Of Countryside Life from 1520 in the Tournai workshops. Known as the Tenture De La Vie Aux Champs, we see a wonderful rendition of life and times in the Middle Ages where daily life in the country in particular grapes harvest of vendanges and wine making were shown in all its glory. Here we see villagers in full dress harvesting grapes from the vineyards and then squashing them in large vats with their feet to produce wine in barrels. A noble couple in more elaborate dress is seen sampling the grapes with a view of the grand castle in the background which is backed in the distance by mountains. This Vendanges au Chateau tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rods and tassels, where pictured, are not included in the price.
