This tapestry 'Verdure Village' is a scene taken from the 'Oudenaarde Verdure' landscape tapestry. In this scene we see the quieter part of the overall scene where the river leads to the village among the natural Belgian countryside. The original verdure tapestries were created around 1916 by the Flemish tapestry makers of the Oudenaarde region, near the Morlake region. Their verdures were renowned for their beauty and detail in all the natural features such as the foliage, the flora of the forest as well as the mood that the atmospheric colors which draws the eye into the picture and provide an escape into the world of the verdure. This tapestry 'Verdure Village' is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
