In this Gobelins tapestry "Versailles Napolean" we see the palace grounds of Versailles from the work of La Manufacture des Gobelins. In the end of the 17th century, Charles Le Brun commissioned 12 landscape tapestries from the Gobelins depicting the various Royal Houses belonging to King Louis XIV. They are now seen in the Museum of Pau. Here in this tapestry we see a balcony with an elaborate drape and urn of sunflowers and melons on a background of courtiers on horseback. The gardens are filled with trees and the royal houses can be seen further in the distance. This tapestry "Versailles Napolean" is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
