Wine press

Wine press
A now famous episode of “I Love Lucy” paid homage to the tradition of stomping grapes to create the juice that would eventually become wine. But in Medieval times, this wasn’t a laughing matter. The annual crush was a village wide celebration, where maidens would stomp on the grapes in large wood vats. It was considered high technology then. Here, a maiden crushes the grapes in the foreground while a primitive wine press is used in the back. In the front appears to be the lady of the manor who is checking on the progress of the work. She is attended to by a lady in waiting. If you’re a wine lover, this tapestry will look wonderful in your wine cellar or over your wine rack. This tapestry is lined and comes with a tunnel for easy hanging.
