World Map tapestry shows a beautiful world map scene from the 18th century. Here in this work, we see the cartographer's work from the 18th century as the map of the world, with some missign areas from North America and Canada, Australia and New Zealand evident, as they have not been explored yet in that time. The map itself is accompanied by scenes from Greek and ROman mythology, used to decorate the work. World maps were as much a work of art in this era as a work of science. Measurements from sea travel were used to construct with world maps and outlines of the continents and land masses and oceans in between, and were remarkably accurate for its day. This work is filled with map detail as well as its beautiful decorative artwork. World Map tapestry is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels where pictured, are not included in the price.
