A Little Prince

In this tapestry "A Little Prince", we see the boy prince watching the crowds at the castle's main courtyard, the work of Blair Leighton. This work shows the young prince Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond, who in Henry VI by Shakespeare, describes the struggle for power between York and Lancaster. This historic play by Shakespeare described the times and life of Henry VI, and here the future Henry VII is seen as a boy. He became king in 1485 when he defeated Richard III in the Battle of Bosworth Field, and was the last king to have claimed his crown by defeat on a battlefield. His mother Lady Margaret Beaufort is seen here in a sumptuous royal robe . The use of light as in all of Leighton's pieces are evocative and atmospheric and here we see the soft light in the day illuminating the scene. This medieval art tapestry "A Little Prince" is unlined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
