Africa - Red

Like its companion piece Africa - Yellow, this Africa - Red tapestry shows an African woman in an abstract style, by Franz Ruzicka. Here we see the lady hinted as a silhouette, and on a rich orange red background. The figure could almost be interpreted as a vision of a person walking through the intense heat to create distortions in form and color. Rusicka has been living in California, Africa and South America to provide a wide range of cultural influences to his works.
