August Botanical tapestry shows the blooms of August in a series for each month of the year. Here in this piece, based on the work by Robert Furber (1674-1756), a British botanist, we see a stunning display of August blooms which represents the flowers of summer. The originals were published in his book, the Twelve Months of Flowers, in 1730, where he showcases hundreds of species of flowers. In this marvelous work, we see an array of floral shapes and colors are seen among green foliage on a vase on a slate ledge. An emblem stating the month of August is seen at the base of this classic work. This piece, as are all the ones in this series, is a maginifent piece which is as much a botanical study as well as a work of art. The species names of each flower seen is listed in the calligraphy below the image. The intricate details provide both botanical information as well as aesthetic beauty. August Botanical tapestry is unlined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
