This unicorn tapestry “Death of the Unicorn” is a detail of the famous death of the unicorn described in the legends of the hunt of the unicorn. Here we see a parade of people escorting the unicorn that will be killed and brought to the castle. The original was originally commissioned by Anne of Brittany to celebrate her marriage to King Louis XII of France. The scene shows nobility, including the lady, with their trusty hounds accompanying the parade, which was preceeded by the humt for the unicorn itself. The colors are reminiscent of the original with golds and oranges accompanying the reds of the garments beautifully. These colors are balanced by beautiful greens of the foliage and the blues of segments of the garments. This unicorn tapestry “Death of the Unicorn” is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging.
