Fatima

This tapestry “Fatima” shows the blessed Virgin Mary in the town of Fatima, Portugal where she appeared in apparitions to three shepherd children, on the 13th day of 6 consecutive months from 13th May 1917. The names of the three children were Lucia dos Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto. Lucia described the woman as brighter than the sun and emanating a beautiful crystal white light. She revealed three secrets during her appearances. An estimated 70 000 people gathered to witness the last of the appearances of Mary in the Cova da Iria on 13 October 1917. Here we see a rendition of the Lady of Fatima, with her white garments, and a crown of thorns. This Christian tapestry “Fatima” is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
