In this tapestry, we see the work of contemporary artist Don Li-Leger. Like its companion work “Garden Dance I” this Oriental wall hanging shows his abstract Asian style of art. We see the bamboo in this tapestry, as well as the blocks of saturated color which is a signature motif in his works. The bamboo is shown here in a calligraphy like style, created by the effect of ink like brush strokes. The wink at his color blocking is seen with the small squares and rectangles popping in front of the main image. The use of color here is inspired by Asian culture as the greens, reds and golds represent good health, good luck and good fortune. The beige on the base adds another layer of complexity as it is a mixture of green and orange. His works have found homes in galleries and home alike. This tapestry “Garden Dance II” is unlined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
