This handwoven tapestry "Handwoven A Mon Seul Desir - Lady and The Unicorn" shows the sense of Love or Desire from the "Lady and the Unicorn" series. In this piece A Mon Seul Desir or to my Heart's Only or Sole Desire, we see lady holding treasures from her treasure chest held by her maid. The lion is seen holding her tent open and the unicorn is on the other side doing the same. A small puppy is also close by. It is unknown as to the exact meaning of this scene or the title. it is speculated to mean love or desire. Originally a wedding gift for the king of France, it is perhaps a fitting theme in the series of unicorn tapestries showing the glorious designs from the middle ages. The tapestries were lost and were rediscovered in the Chateau de Boussac in Creuse in central France, and in 1841, Prosper Merimee, French writer, historian and archaeologist, who wrote the novel Carmen, along with George Sand (Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin), lover of Chopin, discovered the tapestries and helped to arrange for them to be conserved. This handwoven tapestry "Handwoven A Mon Seul Desir - Lady and The Unicorn" is lined, and has a rod pocket for easy hanging.
