The La Vague D'Hokusai tapestry, known as The Great Wave of Kanagawa, is based on the woodblock print by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusaifrom 1833. As Japanese tapestry art, this famous scene of the enormous wave is the first image from his 36 views of Views of Mount Fuji, which is his most well known work. Ukiyo-e art flourished in the 17th to 19th century in Japan and referred to woodblock art of characters and landscapes. Here we see the Mount Fuji dwarfed by the huge waves in the foreground. Though it was thought to be a tsunami, it is likely to be a rogue wave. It is an iconic scene from the Japanese art literature. The La Vague D'Hokusai tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
