This Lady and the Unicorn series tapestry shows three senses of the set of 6 tapestries in this series. In this piece, we see the senses of Hearing, Touch and Smell. We see the Lady playing the organ in the first part, touching the unicorn’s horn in the second, and smelling flowers picked by her hand maiden in the third part. In each the unicorn is seen with the lady, as well as the lion. The background is the mille-fleur style of a thousand flower type design to decorate the forest scene. The flag of Jean le Viste’s family crest is also seen, as the work was commissioned by his family. This unicorn tapestry Lady and the Unicorn Series I is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging.
