Le Chateau de L'Apocalypse tapestry is based on a work from one of the pieces of a six panel work known as the Apocalypse Tapestry of Angers, originally woven at the end of the 14th century by Nicolas Bataille, from around 1377 to 1382. The work was based on the illustrations of Hennequin of Bruges, created for the viewing pleasure of Duke Louis I of Anjou, second son of John II of France. Here we see part of the story of the Apocalypse from the Book of Revelation by Saint John, showing a castle in the heavens. The water, the air and the forest are depicted in medieval style of mille fleur and stylistic representations. This tapestry is backed with a lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
