Le Tournai II – Horizontal tapestry shows the medieval style work of Jean-Paul Laurens (1838- 1921). In this elaborate scene we see the tournaments or jousting events from the medieval period, who were attributed to be originated by Geoffrey de Preuilly from around the year 1000. Since then, the tournaments have developed into celebratory events where banquets and dancing were included in the events. Knights from all over the country and region came to show off their skills in the jousting events. Here we see an elaborate scene where the audience is watching the jousting event with knights preparing for their round, with decorations of pennants, shields and flowers. The Le Tournai II – Horizontal tapestry is backed with lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
