Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde

Inspired by the works of William Morris (1836-1896), this unicorn tapestry “Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde” shows the unicorn in the forest with the heraldry of the knights of the round table. This work represents the Quest for the Unicorn by King Arthur’s 24 knights. In this scene, the unicorn is strolling by the river in the forest, and the lion is watching close by. There is a luscious amount of detail in the forest foliage which includes the banners of the knights amongst the trees. The unicorn is a mysterious figure in history and legend and has been pursued by royalty for its healing properties. This tapestry “Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde” is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging.
