This religious tapestry “Lorenzo Monaco Angel” shows the work of master Gothic painter from Florence, Lorenzo Monaco (1410-1415). Monaco was influenced by the work of Giotto di Bondone, who painted many religious frescos including the famous Scrovegni’s Chapel in Padova. The original of Monaco’s work is in the Galleria dell’Accademia (Venice Academy Gallery), one of the most famous galleries in the world. Here, we see the angel from his work, the Annunciation Triptych. The Annunciation angel hovers over the Virgin Mary telling her that she will conceive a holy child. With her hands folded in front of her heart to show her empathy, the angel is seen here delivering the vital message. Her wings are multicolored, a very unusual feature of the time, and a delicate golden halo is seen around her head to signify her beautiful holy aura. Lorenzo Monaco Angel tapestry is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging.
