Medieval Brussels tapestry is from the Maximilian hunting tapestries, a series of 12 tapestries designed for Archduke Maximilian, after the designs of artists Pieter Coeke and Frans Borremans from Brussels. The tapestry shows the Brussels landscape and Zonien forest and to the right of Saint Goedele, the Saint Michael cathedral. This scene has the subtitle the Month of March and shows royalty going on a hunt in the Zonien forest. Full of detail, this medieval tapestry has the hallmarks of the original hunting tapestries of the 16th century, of which are now in the Louvre, which took two years and sixty weavers to complete them. The sense of activity and movement, the cohesive use of the color palette and the medieval style is the signature of this tapestry series. This most impressive Medieval Brussels tapestry is backed with lining and tunnel for ease of hanging.
