Here in this work, we see the unicorn in detail with its cape which represented the royal or family crest of Jean Le Viste, who comissioned the work. Le Viste was a member of the court of King Charles VII, and the works in the series of tapestries, showed the licorne and the lady, represented the 5 human senses of taste, sight, hearing, touch and smell and a final tapestry representing desire or love. Here in this tapestry we see the unicorn among the forest animals and the medieval style of a rich and abundant mille fleur background.
