Princess Castle tapestry shows the castle for Princess Charlotte, daughter of King Leopold II. Leopold was a Belgian king from Brussels and Charlotte was born at the Royal Palace of Laeken in 1864. She married Rudolf, the Crown Price of Austria just before her 17th birthday. Here we see the beautiful palace which was home to Princess Charlotte, among the lush gardens and grounds of the Belgian National Botanical Gardnes in Meise near Antwerp. The setting is idyllic with expansive grounds of lawns and tall trees, beside the lake next to the castle itself, where birds and swans are feeding. The beautiful greens, beiges and browns are accompanied by an acanthus leaf motif border. The scene invites the viewer to enter the beautiful world of life as a princess in the 19th century. Princess Castle tapestry is backed with lining and tunnel for easy hanging.
