This tapestry is based on an original woven around 1520 by Pieter van Aelst, a Flemish master weaver based in Brussels. Pieter van Aelst was a painter and tapestry creator and produced many works of religious topics as well as works showing life in his times. Here we see the nobility, as represented by their dress and hats, wandering through the forest with a mille fleur background, popular in France and Europe at the time. This medieval tapestry "Promenade Flanders" is backed with lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
