Raphael's Angels

A reproduction of a detail from the Raphael's painting, the Sistine Madonna, this tapestry creates contrasts in reds and tans to accentuate Raphael's famed "Angels". Though he died at the tender age of 37, Raphael's work in the Renaissance period is compared with that of Michelangelo and da Vinci. Along with them, he helped define the high Renaissance style of painting. His works were nothing short of genius, as can be seen in this delightful painting of two angels. It was during the Renaissance period that angels were often depicted as being young looking cherubs, but with an inner sense of maturity.
