The companion piece to Autumn harvest, Spring harvest was designed by Jean-Baptiste Oudry. A French Rococo painter, engraver and tapestry designer, Oudry is credited with reviving the tapestry manufactory in Beauvais in 1734. After producing portraits, Oudry became fascinated with still lifes of fruits and animals as well as paintings of religious themes. The Adoration of Magi is one of his most well known works. Spring harvest is a wonderfully pastoral scene that is classic Oudry. The monochromatic palette bursts of sunlight. The animals are realistically portrayed throughout and the detail is simply superb. If you’re looking for a classic tapestry from one of the industry’s geniuses, you can’t go wrong with Oudry’s Spring harvest. It comes lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
