Rich in detail, The Battle portrays The Battle of Hastings, which pitted King Harold against his cousin, William, Duke of Normandy. The Battle is one of the panels found on the 230-foot long Bayeux tapestry, which can be found at Bayeux Cathedral. It is one of the definitive depictions of the Norman Conquest of England. Tired from a 240-mile march over 13 days with ill equipped and trained men, Harold's army was routed by the well-rested Normans. Harold died with an arrow through his eye. William was crowned William I in London on Christmas Day 1066. The Battle was commissioned by William's half brother, Bishop Odo of Bayeux 11 years after the battle. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
