The Monarch

In “The Monarch” tapestry we see the work of Vancouver based artist Sid Dickens, who resides in British Columbia’s Queen Charlotte islands and his head studio in Vancouver. His most famous works include the tiles called Memory Blocks. Here we see a work inspired by his tiles, which shows a woman in Renaissance style. The natural cracking of the porcelain tiles can be seen. His works are beautiful and classical and celebrates the intense beauty of all aspects of life, and of memory pieces. The color palette here is sepia in theme and shows off the contrast and contour of the subject matter beautifully.
