This wondeful tapestry is based on the original works of which were made at the Gobelins Manufactory of France for King Louis XIV (1638 - 1715). This large tapestry is filled with masterful detail and composition and shows the red drape, a symbol of French Life in the royal courts, with a violin, pillows and a vase, with a backdrop of the gardens leading the eye to the palace in the background. Tall trees line the path towards the royal palace. This is a classic scene of French elegance and even decadance. This French tapestry "Verdure au Chateau II" is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
