Landscape tapestries |
| We have used landscapes as a source of renewal for our soul, to balance our emotions, or to simply appreciate the magnificence of nature itself, for eons.
In the world of tapestries, we see works that have been directly inspired by the landscape and scenery around us, at the time. In the 17th century for example, the “verdure” tapestries depicting scenes of lush foliage and forests became popular. Later on, these verdures included famed chateaus as well as nature itself. And today, these scenes of nature are still valued and appreciated as much as ever before. Our collection of nature scenery, landscape and cityscape art tapestries include the “verdure” tapestries of the Oudenaarde weavers, tapestries of Lake Como, Tuscan tapestries, and the Jagaloon tapestries. |
