The beautiful grounds of Chateau Bellevue is seen here in this Chateau Bellevue Royal Residences tapestry. The Chateau Bellevue was built under the direction of Louis XV, for Madame de Pompadour. It is one of a set of 12 tapestries woven at the Gobelins Manufacture, one of the largest tapestry production houses of France, towards the end of the 17th century. Gobelins tapestry works are known for their beautiful detail and French elegance. The expansive grounds can be seen, with a rich foreground of musical instruments, flowers, ivy and a red drape. The regality of this scene with its composition and intricate floral border, completes the scene beautifully.
