In this tapestry 'Heraldic Unicorn' based on the famous work by William Morris, the famed pre-Raphaelite artist, we see a scene depicting the quest for the elusive and mythical unicorn by King Arthur's knights of the Round Table. In this scene we see the creature strolling near a forest stream, surrounded by trees bearing the various arms of the knights engaged in this quest. The unicorn is a symbol of purity and resurrective powers and was much sought after in the medieval period, including in the Arthurian legends. This delightful design is a favorite of many collectors of the works of William Morris on the theme of the legends of King Arthur, which was a favorite theme in his works. On the banner above the scene, the words read 'These are the arms of certain knights of the round table bidden to seek the unicorn on the quest whatever may befal'. This tapestry 'Heraldic Unicorn' is lined and has a tunnel for easy hanging. Note: tapestry rod and tassels, where pictured, are purchased separately.
