This tapestry features the iconic acanthus leaves, is based on the design by Henry Dearle from 1890. It shows the acanthus leaves which was a favorite motif in the works of Morris and Co. The acanthus is a flowering plant found in Roman and Mediterranean regions known for its beautifully detailed leaves and flowers, and were often carved in Roman architecture as well as the works of Morris to decorate backgrounds and depict foliage and forest scenes. In this tapestry we see the acanthus and its flowers on a forest background, surrounded by a variety of wildflowers. A decorated border completes Dearle's design from the era of William Morris tapestry art. This tapestry is backed with a lining and has a tunnel for easy hanging.
