This handwoven tapestry "Handwoven Palais de Monceaux" shows a palace scene based on the month of December. This hand woven tapestry shows the castle of Monceaux, based on the original produced by the Gobelins Manufactory of France. Here we see the columns in the foreground decorated decadently with a red patterned drape, cello, storks and garlands of flowers overhead as well as on the columns. In the mid ground we see the royals on their traditional hunting pasttime, and in the background we see the palace itself, framed by the gorgeous trees with their branches and leaves. Also known as the Chateau of Monceaux, the original piece was thought to be designed by Charles le Brun from around 1665, and collaborated with Joseph Yvart, Abraham Genoels, Adrian-Frans Baudin, Francois Bonnemer and Jean-Baptiste Martin to produce this work. This handwoven tapestry "Handwoven Palais de Monceaux" is lined, and has a rod pocket for easy hanging.
